Ahoy FSC Sailors,
Happy New Year and welcome to sailing in 2024. We are making some changes and improvements to the club for the new year. I have volunteered to be Commodore this year and others have stepped up as well, thank you to them, see the list below. If you can help in some capacity please contact me.
But first I would like to express our thanks to Vern and Kathy for their many years of service and leadership in the club. Please say thank you personally when you see them next. We are better off, we have a surviving club and a continuing opportunity to sail because of them. Thank you.
Earl Thomas, Commodore
Open, Vice Commodore
Jill Christman, Treasurer and Secretary
Sidney Lee, Membership Chairperson
Roy Jordan, Race Captain and Open Fleet Captain
Art Lange, El Toro Fleet Captain
Earl Thomas, Lido 14 Fleet Captain.
Historian, Jill Christman
The membership dues will continue to be $36.00/year. And the new membership form is on our website for your prompt renewal now at the beginning of the year.
The proposed 2024 sailing schedule is under review now and will be out soon. It will be similar to past years with some additions hopefully.
The sailing venue for 2024 will continue to be Shoreline Lake, Mountain View. FSC will continue as a US Sailing member.
We are updating the club’s website for 2024 and hopefully it will be more informative and useable.
A yearly goal this year will be to introduce the FSC and conduct a membership drive at Shoreline Sailing School and at the lake. We will be having a 'Sail-a-Dinghy-Day*' in the springtime and we will be visiting the sailing school regularly. (*We would bring our boats out for a test ride by prospective sailors/members.) and get their contact info.
Additionally we will encourage the participation of our members to travel to nearby regattas.
We also should consider a club name change to a more regional, locally specific or generic name. Since our future is at Shoreline and the westside of the bay. Your ideas are welcome.
Your help will be needed this year to run the club, attend the races, race committee, promote the club and encourage new membership. Please contact me with any ideas you have for the club.
Happy New Year!!!
See you on the water in 2024,
Thanks,
Earl
