NOTICE OF RACE
The notation [NP] in a rule of the Notice of Race means that a boat may not protest another boat for breaking that rule. This changes RRS 60.1.

1 RULES
1.1 The event is governed by the rules as defined in The Racing Rules of Sailing.
1.2 [NP][DP] Class rules for the individual type of boat shall apply.
1.3 Rule 40.2 is changed to:
Rule 40.1 applies at all times while in the racing area.
1.4 Rule RRS 26 is changed to:
Races shall be started by using the following signals. Times shall be taken from the visual signals; the absence of a sound
signal shall be disregarded.

The warning signal for each succeeding class shall be made with or after the starting signal of the preceding class.
2 SAILING INSTRUCTIONS
2.1 The Sailing Instructions will be available on the Fremont Sailing Club website at www.FremontSailingClub.org and during
the competitors meeting on each race day.
3. COMMUNICATION
3.1 The official notice board will be located at the registration table located near the head of the launch ramp.
4 ELIGIBILITY AND ENTRY
4.1. Eligible classes are Lido 14, El Toro, and Portsmouth Handicap dinghies.
5 VENUE
5.1 The venue will be Shoreline Sailing Lake in Mountain View, CA.
6 SCHEDULE
6.1 Competitors shall register by signing in at the registration table located near the head of the launch ramp prior to the
end of the competitors meeting.
6.2 The order of starts and identification of class flags will be announced at the competitor’s meeting.
6.3 The competitor’s meeting will be held at 1030.
6.4 The scheduled time of the warning signal for the first race is 1100.
6.5 Subsequent races will be sailed shortly after the completion of the previous race.
6.6 The maximum number of races sailed each day will be at the sole discretion of the race committee.
7 PENALTIES
RRS 44.1 is changed so that a Two-Turns Penalty is replaced by a One-Turn Penalty.
8 SCORING
8.1 Rule RRS A5.3 shall apply.
8.2 The first three completed races each day will be included in the series scores. Rescheduled or resailed races will also be
included in the series scores.
8.3 Each series shall be scored independently using rule RRS A2.1. The Season Series score shall be the sum of the
individual series scores.
8.4 Competitors performing the duties of Race Committee will be scored RC and awarded points equal to their average score, rounded down to the next lower whole number of all the other races scored in the series. The competitor must have competed in at least one race during the series to be scored.
9 PRIZES
Series and Season prizes shall be awarded at the end of the season.
Season series will be awarded to the Fremont Sailing Club competitors in each fleet for each series of races according
to the following schedule, based on a count of the competitors within a fleet who attended at least 60% of the races in
a series.

RRS 3 states: ‘The responsibility for a boat’s decision to participate in a race or to continue to race is hers alone.’ By participating in this event each competitor agrees and acknowledges that sailing is a potentially dangerous activity with inherent risks. These risks include strong winds and rough seas, sudden changes in weather, failure of equipment, boat handling errors, poor seamanship by other boats, loss of balance on an unstable platform and fatigue resulting in
increased risk of injury. Inherent in the sport of sailing is the risk of permanent, catastrophic injury or death by
drowning, trauma, hypothermia or other causes.
