Ahoy Wind Swept Sailors,

Well that was an exciting few days. I heard of wind speed reports as high as 101 mph to 79 mph at some of the reporting stations. And what about those hurricane warnings along the central coast. Those conditions would have made Sunday’s Richmond Mid-Winters an impossible challenge with the wind and rain. I am glad cooler heads prevailed and they wisely cancelled the event.

I hope all of you are okay and your boats are as well. I was listening to the weather reports and tied down my boat tarps beforehand but I am going to check the boat interiors shortly. This cooler weather has made working on the boats more difficult but I am pressing on with some things I can do in the garage, like refinishing some of the brightwork like paddles, the Lido shelf and sorting through my collection of boat hardware and parts. Please share any of your stories here on this site.

Our next good day to go sailing is this Saturday February 10 at Lake Merritt. The weather reports are forecasting dry weather. So keep your fingers crossed. I am planning on being there and I hope some more of you can join us. We need some additional Lido and El Toro participation. The practice is good to keep your skills sharp and find out if there are any little things that need fixing or upgrading on your boats or trailers.

This Thursday we’ll have another exciting Zoom meeting when we can get answers to those pesky rules questions and check in on everyone’s windy stories. The link is below.

The photos are a reminder of sailing again on fairer days.

Stay dry this week,
___
